Notes on the CMS Saturday meeting 10/ 8/’19

1) Introduce visitors: Ron introduced Peter, who had come to ‘check us out’ & the members present welcomed him appropriately.

2) Birthdays,
The Birthdays for August, Past; John M, Cameron C, Coming; Paul E, Noel N

3) Welfare Report
Des M – Des is home now, having arrived last Wednesday about 11am. He is able to use the new ramp quite well, although it is yet to have the Handrails fitted.
Ken W. – has been released from ‘prison’ & is able to go to the dining room & see Shirley. He hopes to visit the Shed next Saturday
Ian W. – Ross had visited Ian & reported him in good spirit. He hopes to be transferred for rehab. in the near future.

4) Machine Maintenance
In Michael’s temporary absence, Ron reported that the disk sander had been found to be not working. He had dissembled it & found the motor to be burnt out & the whole machine needs to be replaced. It was reported that when initially found to be not working, the table was jammed against the disk, preventing it from rotating & the switch left in the ‘on’ position.

5) Activity Calendar
The attendance list for the Model Train Show at Caulfield Racecourse is still on the notice board but has only 2 names on it
A tour over the developments at the Lilydale Quarry development t was quite successful & if enough people were still interested a second visit may be able to be organized
Next Saturday was the monthly Sausage sizzle at Woolies. A roster is on the notice board for volunteers. Russell said that he & AJ would consult on Tuesday to determine if the event would go ahead, as Woolies were still unable to offer shelter at the event, in case of bad weather.

6) Lost, Stolen, Strayed, Surplus or Queries
The TV made available by Lothar, without a stand or Remote Control is still available & if not claimed by the end of the day, would go to ReStore.
The Aldi capsule coffee machine was also still available.

7) Requests:
Rob L. gave a report in the absence of Rob R. He summarized the jobs in progress or completed (similar to last week). He also indicated that there were no jobs wanting labour.

8) Committee members’ comments
It was reported that Mooroolbark Men’s Shed had sent a very nice ‘Thank You’ email for the tools that we had given them after their burglary. It was noted that they were in a relatively isolated environment & even after a burglar alarm system was fitted it could be of little use if it was not monitored. The police had also told them that it was not uncommon for a second burglary to take place about 4 months after the first, as the burglars would expect that the stolen equipment would have been replaced.

9) General member comment
Gil reminded members that the AGM was at the end of the month & that only financial members could vote (for an election or motions)!

10) The Video on Stroke Recognition, shown last week, was shown again.

11) Lunch: Enough members showed an interest in Sausages, that Gordon offered to cook.

End of Meeting.

Forgotten at the meeting!
That the books culled from the shelves a week ago, as unused, were on a trolley. Any item that was not taken or requested to be kept, will be offered to ReStore by the end of the week.
